1 – 1 Therapy / Coaching
I have had the benefit of training in many modalities over the years. Primarily with an Advanced Diploma as both an addictions therapist + psychotherapist, which took over 5 years at least. I’ve also studied as an NLP Master Practitioner, Clinical hypnotherapist and coach. More recently all my training has been on trauma alongside my EMDR training. So, I believe I can offer you the very best aspects of all disciplines. The “coaching” aspects and NLP training help with forming great futures and empowering visions, working on your present moment resources, robustness and resilience. However, the EMDR and trauma-informed therapist in me, is able to work at depth with your history, loosening and dissolving the grip of any previous “triggers” or limiting beliefs from your conditioning, past and sometimes childhood. Whilst understanding “attachment” patterns and how we form relationships, and that with developmental trauma, we often need longer-term therapy where we can find a safe person, in whom we can really trust.
Skype, Zoom and What’s App sessions make up an awful lot of my client base as does online EMDR. With technology these days it’s easy to work online from the comfort of your own home without travelling. I work on GMT time so if you are overseas please bear that in mind. Please email me at email@example.com for availability and rates. Also, if you are interested in the trauma groups I am currently setting up, do let me know and if you need any help immediately. Please join us at Trauma Thrivers on Facebook. You’d be very welcome.
Prior to Covid 19, I would often work intensively with people as we could cover so much more ground.
For now, I’ve not been able to do this, but I may again at some point in the future, be offering either half days or 1/2/3 day of intensive EMDR work which is charged at a daily rate plus travel.
We can also schedule in 2/3 hour sessions together rather than the usual weekly “therapy” sessions model too. I also work internationally and have travelled extensively, to assess clients and help with a treatment plan, to do group work, to help with addiction treatment or work with specific trauma interventions for both individuals and family members on request.
“As a freelance documentary sound recordist for the last 10 years I have travelled the world extensively, filming and becoming immersed in multiple cultures and environments. However, my work with Lou Lebentz has taken me on my most extraordinary and important journey of self-discovery of all. Her multi-disciplinary yet organic, flowing approach, borne of a unique ‘all encompassing’ understanding of humanity and ‘the unseen’ has initiated breakthroughs where, in my experience, others have failed. Compassion and empathy are naturally present yet without any sacrifice of her ability to maintain the necessary calmness and objectivity required to assist me on such deeply emotional levels. Her constantly expansive perspective has dissolved much of my old destructive beliefs and awakened the realization of my inner potential which I believe each and everyone of us has the capacity for and whilst my initial belief when I first saw Lou was one of hopelessness and almost despair, I now live life with a burgeoning, innate sense of un-ending possibilities as she continues to put me in touch with my true self…I also could not end without saying that far from the archetypal view of a “Therapist”, Lou continues to re-define the very meaning of “Therapy” and often embraces moments of fun along the way. I can highly recommend her!”
“Lou is amazing. She’s all the superlatives you’d expect from a therapist; empathetic, understanding, trustworthy, compassionate and perceptive. She’s also a bit more than that. She has a gentle, confident aura about her which instantly reassured me. She seemed to know what I was thinking better than I did – or at least better able to express it. I’m sure this comes from experience and was further evidenced by her seemingly prescient understanding of how my brain was wired. She managed to teach me how to rewire it and to channel emotions to their appropriate places. When I met Lou I was a mess. I’d had 30 years to learn to hate myself, I couldn’t see a future and I didn’t want one. I thought that my problems were insurmountable for anyone to tackle. I was wrong. Lou has taught me to like myself, to look in the mirror and say, ‘you’re a nice guy’ and actually believe it. And that confidence is infectious. Over time she has managed to instill it in me. Did she save my life? No, we did that together.”
There are not many practitioners who are as devoted to their craft as Lou Lebentz. Ever since I have known her she has been passionate about working in the area of addictive behaviour and trauma. Her innovative and passionate approach combining research and extensive experience in clinical practice makes Lou the go-to expert and leader in this field.
I have known and worked with Lou Lebentz for 7 years and have always been inspired by her professionalism. She works at a depth with her clients that enables them through the therapeutic process to not only tackle deep rooted personal issues but also move forwards toward the reality they crave. She has a wealth of experience in trauma, addiction, depression and anxiety to offer and a wide range of evidence based therapeutic tools at her disposal. I would not hesitate to recommend her as a therapist to anyone.
I have know Lou for approximately 10 years, both as a colleague and a friend. Lou is truly inspirational. As a therapist/speaker/friend she draws admiration for her courage, authenticity, enthusiasm and skill. Lou is also highly intuitive and is warm and welcoming in her approach. In short, she can light up a room with her presence!
